Six new cases of poliomyelitis were reported in Chad in the last week; this brings the total number of cases for 2011, to 125. Five of the new cases were from Logone Oriental, the province reporting most polio cases in the country (55 of 125). Recent increases in staff numbers is helping to address operational challenges in high risk areas such as Logone Oriental. The last round of immunisations took place in November 2011.
