Dengue Fever in Marshall Islands (Update)

Medical authorities in Marshall Islands report that the dengue fever outbreak that began in October 2011, has now peaked.

A total of 1400 cases have been recorded to date, however new cases reported are now down to just a few each day.

Advice for Travellers

Avoidance of mosquito bites, particularly during daylight hours, by covering up with clothing, the use of bite avoidance measures such as repellent and bed nets is advised. Elimination of breeding sites around hotel rooms/houses is advised for longer term stays.
