Cholera in Somalia (Update)

The UN news service (IRIN) has reported a suspected cholera outbreak in the southern Somali village of Hoosingo, in the district of Badade in Lower Juba. Around twelve deaths have associated with the suspected outbreak.

Advice for Travellers

Travellers to outbreak areas who will be mixing closely with the local population and cannot ensure safe drinking water can be immunised against cholera. A high standard of food, water and personal hygiene should also be maintained.
