Global Availability of Rabies Vaccine, Rabies Immunoglobulin and Japanese Encephalitis (JE) Vaccines

The ISTM Professional Education Committee conducted a survey in June and July of 2013, to identify clinics around the world who were able to provide rabies vaccines, rabies immunoglobulin and JE vaccines to travellers. The clinics who responded to the survey are listed in this useful resource.

This resource however, is for ISTM members only as login details are required to access the Members area of the website.

An ISTM resource which is available to non-members is the Global Travel Clinic Directory.

Access to this resource is freely available and is featured on the HOME page of the ISTM website. The Travel Clinic Directory lists ISTM member clinics willing to provide travel services to international travellers in 80 locations around the world.

These ISTM resources may be useful in the following situations:

  • Last minute travellers wishing to complete vaccinations schedules at their destination.
  • Identifying a reliable source of immunoglobulin/vaccine for travellers choosing not to have pre-exposure rabies vaccine.
  • Identifying a reliable source of immunoglobulin/vaccine for rabies post-exposure prophylaxis.
  • Travellers on worldwide trips wishing to access vaccinations for later destinations in their itinerary e.g. getting yellow fever vaccine in Australia before going to South America.
  • Travellers wishing to purchase additional antimalarial tablets.
