As of 25 November 2013, 5212 cases of dengue fever have been recorded in the capital Delhi, with an additional 67 cases reported from the National Capital Region which includes parts of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh states.
Karnataka state has recorded 6023 cases and 12 dengue fever related deaths as of 26 November 2013.
Pune in Maharashtra state as of 25 November 2013, has recorded 741 dengue fever cases and cases are said to be increasing.
Advice for Travellers
Avoidance of mosquito bites, particularly during daylight hours, by covering up with clothing, the use of bite avoidance measures such as repellent and bed nets is advised. Elimination of breeding sites around hotel rooms/houses is advised for longer term stays.
