Dengue fever is ongoing in Philippines with several areas reporting new cases:
North Cotabato province has recorded 1302 cases in five municipalities: Kidapawan city (277 cases), Mlang (245), Kabacan (155) and Midsayap (100 cases).
Negros Occidental province has recorded 1538 dengue fever cases. Worst affected municipalities: Talisay City (171 cases), Victorias City (153), Kabankalan City (122), San Carlos City (115), and Bago City (115 cases).
Bukidnon province has recorded at least 183 dengue fever cases. Worst affected municipalities: Malaybalay city (47 cases) and Valencia city (55 cases).
Advice for Travellers
Avoidance of mosquito bites, particularly during daylight hours, by covering up with clothing, the use of bite avoidance measures such as repellent and bed nets is advised. Elimination of breeding sites around hotel rooms/houses is advised for longer term stays.
