The cholera outbreak in South Sudan continues to spread. The outbreak is occurring in Central Equatorial State and affected counties within the state include: Juba, Yei, Kajo-Keji and Lainya. As of 3 June 2014, a total of 1138 cases and 29 related deaths have been recorded.
Travellers to outbreak areas who will be mixing closely with the local population and cannot ensure safe drinking water can be immunised against cholera. A high standard of food, water and personal hygiene should also be maintained.
