The first case of chikungunya virus infection in the Cayman Islands was confirmed on June 30. Officials report that the case was imported by a resident who returned to Cayman last month following a trip to a country where chikungunya was present. Public health officials advised that two more suspected cases of the mosquito-borne virus have emerged.
