Cholera in Ghana (Update)

Health officials in Ghana are blaming poor sanitation as the major cause of the cholera outbreak in the country. Reports say cholera has killed more than 40 people in Accra since June and infected 3100 others.

Advice for Travellers

Travellers to outbreak areas who will be mixing closely with the local population and cannot ensure safe drinking water can be immunised against cholera. A high standard of food, water and personal hygiene should also be maintained.
