Yellow Fever in Peru

The Ministry of Health for Peru (Lima) has published the number of cases of yellow fever for 2015, thus far.

The figures were published in the Ministry of Health Epidemiological Bulletin; a total of 14 cases were reported in the following departments: Cusco (1), Huanuco (1), Junin (3), Loreto (4), Madre de Dios (1) and San Martin (4). The cases were all identified in rural areas of the Amazon region.

Advice for Travellers

The departments mentioned in this report are all located in known yellow fever risk areas and yellow fever vaccination is recommended for travellers to these areas.

Travellers should also take steps to avoid mosquito bites.
