On 5 August 2016 the Florida Department of Health (FDoH) reported that they are investigating one new non-travel related ZIKV infection in Miami-Dade County bringing the total number of non-travel related cases of ZIKV infection in Florida to 16.
The FDoH still believes that active transmission is only taking place within an identified one-square mile area in Miami-Dade County. There are no areas of active transmission in Broward County. A map of the zone affected in Miami-Dade County can be accessed here.
For the purpose of advising travellers Miami-Dade County has been categorised as a High risk area while the State of Florida is considered Moderate risk .
