A new case of wild poliovirus type 1 (WPV1) has been reported in Pakistan in the past week. The case is from Sujawal, Sindh (south-east of Karachi), with onset of paralysis on 3 September. This is the most recent WPV1 case in the country bringing the current total of cases in 2016 to 15.
Efforts to strengthen immunisation and surveillance activities in all provinces of Pakistan continue.
