On the 27 January 2017 the World Health Organisation (WHO) issued a news release detailing the extended areas of yellow fever (YF) risk in relation to the current YF outbreak in Brazil.
The newly defined areas at risk for YF transmission in Brazil include the states of Minas Gerais, São Paulo and Espírito Santo, which have reported confirmed cases. In addition, there have been suspected cases recorded in the states of Bahia, Goias and Mato Grosso do Sul.
Vaccination against YF is advised for all travellers visiting these extended areas of risk (unless contraindicated).
