On the 13 March 2017 the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment reported (in Dutch) confirmed a case of yellow fever (YF) in a Dutch traveller that is known to have contracted the disease in Suriname.
There is a risk of YF in Suriname and the World Health Organisation advises vaccination for all travellers (unless contraindicated). Additionally a YF vaccination certificate is required from all travellers over 1 year of age arriving from all countries.
A traveller's risk of YF is determined by their general risk assessment e.g. country visited, length of stay, city or rural, activities etc.
