On 21 October 2017 the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) reported 17 cases of chikungunya in Var, France as of 15 October. There have been 11 cases in the area of Cannet-des-Maures. A second, linked, cluster has been identified in Taradeau (13km away) and involves 6 cases.
No vaccine is available against Chikungunya. Mosquito bite avoidance is the only method of reducing the risk of infection.
