Vaccine Supply Update

The following is an update provided by Public health England (PHE) regarding the supply situation for vaccines purchased directly from the manufacturers (e.g. for travel and risk groups):

Diphtheria, Tetanus and Poliomyelitis (inactivated) Vaccine

Sanofi Pasteur: Revaxis is now available to order without restrictions.

Hepatitis B

To ensure vaccine availability for those at highest and most immediate risk of exposure to hepatitis B, all hepatitis B containing monovalent and bivalent (HepA/HepB) vaccines are currently under supply management processes. The update specific to travellers was published by PHE in November 2017 and can be accessed alongside other associated guidance here

In Scotland a mechanism is in place to allow for exceptional orders if there is an urgent and immediate need for an individual following a thorough risk assessment, this is through the local NHS Board Vaccine Holding Centre

Hepatitis B Adult:

  • GSK: Supplies of Engerix B PFS singles and packs of 10 are available, however, there may not be sufficient stock in each presentation to accommodate demand.
  • GSK: Supplies of Engerix B vials singles and packs of 10 are available, however, there may not be sufficient stock in each presentation to accommodate demand.
  • GSK: Fendrix is available.
  • MSD: Limited supplies of HBVAXPRO 10μg are available. Supplies are expected to be restricted until further notice.
  • MSD: Limited supplies of HBVAXPRO 40μg are available. Supplies are expected to be restricted until further notice.

Hepatitis B Paediatric:

  • GSK: Engerix B Paediatric singles are available.
  • MSD: Limited supplies of HBVAXPRO 5μg are available. Supplies are expected to be restricted until further notice.

Hepatitis A Vaccine

Hepatitis A Adult:

  • GSK: Supplies of Havrix PFS singles, PFS packs of 10 and vials in singles are available. However, there may not be sufficient stock in each presentation to accommodate demand.
  • Sanofi Pasteur: Limited supplies of Avaxim are available, however, it is likely that there will be ordering restrictions in place.
  • MSD: VAQTA Adult is available.

Hepatitis A Paediatric:

  • GSK: Havrix Paediatric singles and packs of 10 are currently available.
  • MSD: VAQTA Paediatric is currently available.

Measles, Mumps, Rubella Vaccine

  • MSD: MMR stocks are currently available for the private market and for the National Immunisation Programme.

Combined Hepatitis A and B

  • GSK: Twinrix Adult and Paediatric presentations are available.
  • GSK: Ambirix is available.

Combined Hepatitis A and Typhoid

  • Sanofi Pasteur: Limited supplies of Viatim are available. It is likely that there will be order restrictions in place.

Meningitis ACWY Vaccine

  • GSK: Menveo is currently unavailable until late 2018.
  • Pfizer: Nimenrix is currently available for private sales and there is no impact on the National Immunisation Programme.

Typhoid

  • Sanofi Pasteur: Typhim is available to order without restrictions.
  • PaxVax: Vivotif is available.

Rabies Vaccine*

  • GSK: Limited supplies of Rabipur are available, next replenishment is expected in July 2018.
  • Sanofi Pasteur: Rabies BP is out of stock. For more information, please call Sanofi Pasteur Customer services 0148 350 5515.

*The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) recently reviewed the UKs pre and post-exposure treatment schedules. TRAVAX will be updated to reflect the latest guidance in early July 2018.

Japanese Encephalitis Vaccine:

  • Valneva: Supplies of IXIARO are available without restriction.

Yellow Fever Vaccine:

  • Sanofi: Supplies of StAmaril are available without restriction.
