The travel and International Health Team have recently made some amendments to the Designation of Yellow Fever Vaccination Centres Information pack.
To register as a yellow fever vaccination centre in Scotland it is mandatory that at least one member of the clinical team attends initial face to face training before the designation process can be completed.
Currently Each YFVC is required to have at least one member of clinical staff complete training every two years with the expectation that this individual will cascade training to other members of the clinical team. However, HPS is now recommending that all clinical staff involved in advising travellers about yellow fever should either attend face to face training or complete the online training every two years. Once the initial face to face training has taken place each subsequent member of the YFVC can undertake the online training course free of charge, this can be accessed at any time.
An email was sent this week to all YFVCs registered in Scotland, advising of the mandatory training requirements and recommendations.
Information about applying for designation as a Scottish YFVC, training and the Designation of Yellow Fever Vaccination Centres Information pack are available on the Health Protection Scotland Website.
If you are a YFVC registered in Scotland and have not received an email regarding this or would like further information please contact the yellow fever team on:
