The Travel and International Health Team have decided to extend the length of the yellow fever face to face training in Scotland. This change has been made in response to feedback from delegates and Scottish yellow fever vaccination centres, and also to address some concerns following recent serious adverse events associated with yellow fever vaccination.
The extended training will allow more time for risk assessment questions and case studies to be discussed and give delegates more opportunity to discuss any concerns regarding yellow fever vaccine and disease risks.
This change will commence from February 2020.
The next scheduled yellow fever training is on 7 October 2019, however this training session will remain as a 3 hour session.
There are currently two training days scheduled for 2020:
The fee for registration for all yellow fever vaccination centres in Scotland will increase from £70 to £100 from February 2020. This fee includes the initial face to face training and the first two years of registration. Existing centres wishing to attend the face to face training will be charged £95.
The re- registration fee due every two years will remain at £65.
