As of 17 March 2020, and in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) have issued an exceptional travel advisory as follows:
'As countries respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, including travel and border restrictions, the FCO advises British nationals against all but essential international travel. Any country or area may restrict travel without notice.'
Those that now need to change or cancel travel plans should contact their airline, travel company, cruise line or other transport and accommodation providers for information.
Anyone planning essential travel should carefully check their travel insurance documents as their policy may now be invalid.
