Hotel Quarantine; Border Control Measures for Travellers Arriving in the UK

To stop the spread of potentially harmful variants of coronavirus (COVID-19), stricter measures have been implemented for travellers arriving in the UK.

From 15th February 2021 onwards, travellers who have visited or transited through a country where travel to the UK is banned in the last 10 days must:

• quarantine for 10 days in a managed quarantine hotel
• take a coronavirus (COVID-19) test on day 2 and day 8 of quarantining
• follow the national lockdown rules for the UK 4 nations country they arrive in

Travellers are required to:

• book an accommodation and testing package through the UK Government portal prior to their departure
• complete a Passenger Locator Form (PLF) declaring which countries have been visited in the 10 days prior to arriving in the UK.

The rules vary slightly between each of the UK 4 nation countries.  Travellers should follow the rules both for the UK nation they will be arriving into and their home nation. Further information can be found in the links below:

Before making travel plans, travellers should consider if their journey is essential and legally permitted.
