The Ministry of Health of Indonesia has announced a confirmed case of human infection with avian influenza A(H5N1) virus. The case is an 1-year old female from West Jakarta district, DKI Jakarta Province. The child was admitted to hospital on 15 August where she subsequently died on 25 August 2011. Of the 179 cases confirmed to date in Indonesia, 147 have been fatal.
