Yellow Fever in Peru

Officials of the office of the Ayacucho Regional Director of Health (DIRESA) today confirmed a yellow fever death in Llochegua district in the Apurimac, Ene River valley. The victim was a 15 year old girl who died three days postnatally. A preventative campaign of vaccination is underway in the valley.

Advice for Travellers

This is an area of Peru for which yellow fever vaccination is usually recommended for travellers. In addition precautions to prevent mosquito bites should be taken.
