A cholera outbreak has been reported from Lucapa Municipality, north-eastern Lunda-Norte Province. More than a hundred cholera cases have been recorded in the first two weeks of December 2011. The source of the infection has not been mentioned in this report although the government is taking steps to contain the outbreak.

Advice for Travellers
Travellers to outbreak areas who will be mixing closely with the local population and cannot ensure safe drinking water can be immunised against cholera. A high standard of food, water and personal hygiene should also be maintained.
