An outbreak of meningococcal meningitis has been reported from the Upper East Region of Ghana. Sixteen deaths from the infection have been recorded in the last two months. Health authorities for the area have confirmed around 102 cases and have increased their efforts to contain the outbreak although more vaccines are required to cover all endemic areas of the country. This report does not include information on the serogroup circulating in this outbreak.
