Cholera in Congo

A Brazzaville health official reports that the Republic of Congo has seen about 340 cholera cases in recent months. There have been nine cholera deaths since June in the area of Likouala, about 800km north of the capital.

Advice for Travellers

Travellers to outbreak areas who will be mixing closely with the local population and cannot ensure safe drinking water can be immunised against cholera. A high standard of food, water and personal hygiene should also be maintained.
