Typhoid Fever in Fiji (Update)

Following the rains in Fiji at the beginning of the year (2012) further cases of typhoid fever have been reported since the first suspected cases were identified in February. To date, more that 100 cases of typhoid fever have been recorded.

Advice for Travellers

Vaccination against typhoid is available for travellers to affected areas in Fiji. Precautions with food and water hygiene is also recommended as the vaccine is not fully effective in protecting against typhoid fever.
