Meningococcal Meningitis in Senegal

As of 13 Apr 2012, 100 cases of meningococcal meningitis have been reported from the Kaolack region with two deaths. During the last two months cases have been reported also in the Ziguincor region and Touba city, Diourbel region.

Advice for Travellers

Quadrivalent meningococcal vaccine is available for those considered to be at risk, particularly if travelling to an outbreak area during the high risk season (generally Dec-Jun).
