The Ministry of Health for Nigeria has reported that as of 4 May 2012, a total of 748 suspected cases of meningococcal meningitis were reported in the country with 48 associated deaths. Twenty two of the suspected cases have been laboratory confirmed; this report did not specify the serogroup associated with these cases.
