Schistosomiasis in Tanzania

Ministry of Health (MOH) for Zanzibar has begun a national campaign to combat schistosomiasis and other worms, which affect over 36% of the islands' population estimated at one million individuals.

The MOH reports that 21.3% of children and 9.0% of the adults in Pemba Island have schistosomiasis, while on Unguja Islands it is 4.0% of the children and 2.1% of adults.
