Between January and April last year (2011), around 550 malaria cases were reported in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. This year during the same period (January to April 2012) more than 1600 malaria cases have been recorded. The increase in malaria cases is causing concern as cases normally increase following the monsoon later in the year.
