Tick-borne Encephalitis in Russian Federation

As of 22 May 2012, 89 suspected cases of tick-borne encephalitis following tick bites have been reported in the Saint Petersburg and Leningrad regions. In Leningrad region alone, 2034 people have sought medical attention following tick bites.

Advice for Travellers

Vaccination against tick-borne encephalitis is available for those considered to be at risk. Travellers should also take steps to avoid tick bites.
