Cholera in Zambia

Zambia is experiencing a cholera outbreak in the district of Mpulungu in the northern Province. As of 27 August 2012, a total of 153 cases and 2 deaths (CFR: 1.3%) had been reported. The outbreak started on 03 August 2012.

Advice for Travellers

Cholera risk outwith the outbreak area is negligible for travellers. All travellers should continue to practise strict food and water hygiene and wash their hands frequently, especially before eating.
