Suitcase

Poliomyelitis (Suspected) in Ethiopia (Update)

27 September 2012

We would like to clarify the report dated 25 January 2012, regarding suspected polio in two Somali refugees in Bur Amino camp for displaced persons in Dollo Ado in the south of the country.

Poliomyelitis was not confirmed in these two suspected cases and no further suspected cases have been reported since. Ethiopia is not a polio infected country neither is it a country reporting importations of poliomyelitis.

Advice for Travellers

Immunisation against poliomyelitis is not recommended for Ethiopia.
