Advice for Travellers

Peru is a popular tourist destination and the western part of Lake Titicaca (also very popular) is located in Puno region. Travellers should be made aware of the rabies risk and be advised to avoid all contact with animals. All animal bites must be reported as soon as possible.

Pre-exposure rabies vaccine is available for those considered to be at risk.
