A case of yellow fever has been identied in the northern district of Agago. The case was admitted to hospital on 24 September 2012 with suspected Ebola haemorrhagic fever; subsequent laboratory tests excluded Ebola but were positive for yellow fever virus. The case has yet to be confirmed by WHO. Investigation into further cases is underway.
Advice for Travellers
There is a risk of yellow fever in Uganda and vaccination is advised for travellers, unless contraindicated. Travellers should also take steps to avoid mosquito bites.
