Two new cholera outbreaks have been reported in Ghana. The first is in Tarkwa Nsuem, Western Region in the south of the country where 63 cholera cases have been recorded in the last two weeks. The second cholera outbreak has been reported from Ejura in neighbouring Ashanti Region where more than 26 cases and 6 deaths have been recorded in the past week.
Advice for Travellers
Travellers to outbreak areas who will be mixing closely with the local population and cannot ensure safe drinking water can be immunised against cholera. A high standard of food, water and personal hygiene should also be maintained.
