An outbreak of diphtheria which began in June 2012, is ongoing in the northeastern region of Thailand
Between 01 June and 04 November 2012, 43 confirmed cases of diphtheria with 4 deaths have been reported mostly in the north and north-east regions. Cases have been reported in Loei (26 cases), Pattani (5), Yala (3), Petchabun (4), Nong Bua Lamphu (4) and Surat Thani province (one case).
Advice for Travellers
Travellers should ensure that they have received vaccination against diphtheria according to the UK national vaccine schedule.
