Four new poliomyelitis cases were reported in the past week (one each from Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano and Katsina), bringing the total number of cases for 2012, to 104. The case from Kaduna is the most recent in the country and had onset of paralysis on 30 October 2012.
Efforts are ongoing to more closely align polio eradication with routine immunization activities. As part of intensified routine immunization efforts, IEC (information, education and communication) materials have been developed and are being distributed to eight states.
