Dengue Fever in New Caledonia

06 December 2012

The government of New Caledonia is alerting the local population to an outbreak of dengue fever. Last month 127 cases of dengue virus infection were reported and there have been 16 cases thus far in December 2012.

The government reports that most regions of the territory are affected by the outbreak and it has warned people to use insect repellent and to destroy possible mosquito larvae breeding sites at least once a week.
