Between the beginning of the year and 24 February 2013, 610 cases of cholera with 8 deaths were reported in Angola.
Cases have been reported in the northern Uige province (286 cases), Cunene in the south (209 cases with 4 deaths) and Malange province in the north (27 cases with 3 deaths). In the past week, at least 101 cases with one death have been reported in the province of Luanda in the north-west of the country.

Advised for Travellers
Travellers to outbreak areas who will be mixing closely with the local population and cannot ensure safe drinking water can be immunised against cholera. A high standard of food, water and personal hygiene should also be maintained.
