Cholera in Mozambique

Between 28 Jan and 10 Mar 2013, 1352 cases of cholera with five deaths were reported, of those, 482 cases with two deaths were reported in Nampula City, the most recently affected province.

Cases have also been reported from the provinces of Cabo Delgado, districts of Pemba City, Mecufi and Metuge, Niassa and Cuamba district.

Advice for Travellers

Travellers to outbreak areas who will be mixing closely with the local population and cannot ensure safe drinking water can be immunised against cholera. A high standard of food, water and personal hygiene should also be maintained.
