The Dominican health authorities have confirmed a new cholera outbreak. The outbreak has been identified in San Cristobal which is around 30km west of Santo Domingo in the south of the country. Twenty three cholera cases have been admitted to hospital for treatment.
The health ministry has issued an alert in San Cristobal and surrounding towns and set up a specialist unit to treat new cholera cases in the area.
