Hurricane and Tropical Storm in Mexico

18 September 2013

Hurricane Ingrid and Tropical Storm Manuel have affected most parts of Mexico. The airport in Acapulco and the motorway from Mexico City to Acapulco are closed. The Mexican government is co-ordinating evacuation and assistance efforts and has been using the ‘Foro Imperial’ on Boulevard de las Naciones as a muster point for some evacuees.

The hurricane season in Mexico normally runs from June to November and can affect both the Pacific and Atlantic coasts.

Advice for Travellers

Travellers stranded in Acapulco should monitor local media and follow the advice of the local authorities. Those intending to visit Mexico in the near future should check with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for the latest advice.
