Hepatitis A in Mexico

The authorities of Uman Municipality in the Yucatan peninsula have reported an outbreak of hepatitis A affecting around 150 individuals, mostly children and adolescents. Most cases have been recorded in Poxila, Bolon, and Tanil communities.

Advice for Travellers

Hepatitis A vaccine is usually recommended for all travellers to Mexico; disease prevalence is considered moderate to high in this country. Travellers should also maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and food and water safety.
