An outbreak of cholera has been reported from Huila province in the south of the country. The outbreak began in February 2013, and to date, 597 cases and 23 deaths have been recorded. Most of the deaths occurred in Lubango district.
Advice for Travellers
Travellers to outbreak areas who will be mixing closely with the local population and cannot ensure safe drinking water can be immunised against cholera. A high standard of food, water and personal hygiene should also be maintained.
