Avian Influenza (Human) in Cambodia

10 March 2014

The Ministry of Health for Cambodia has reported three new confirmed human cases of avian influenza (H5N1) virus infection. These are the 4th, 5th and 6th cases to be reported in 2014.

The new cases are all children; two girls aged 10 and 11-years from Tboung Khmun (previously Kampong Cham) province, and a 3-year-old boy from the city of Phnom Penh. All of the children had contact with sick poultry. Both girls have received treatment and are doing well; the boy received hospital treatment but failed to respond and died on 2 March 2014.
