Pertussis (whooping cough) has been reported from Alicante province in Valencia on the east coast of Spain. The first cases were reported, week beginning 3 march 2014. A total of 16 cases have been identified among pupils in two schools.
It should be confirmed that children have received their recommended doses of pertussis vaccine according to the UK childhood immunisation programme.
