The Department of Health for Cabinda province in the far north of Angola, has reported a total of 44 535 malaria cases and 41 related deaths during Jan and Feb 2014. Of those cases, 14 592 were children under the age of 5 years and 10 397 were children aged between 5-14 years-of-age. At present the mosquito net coverage in Angola is below 20%.
There is a high risk of malaria all year round, in all areas of Angola. Prescription only antimalarials are recommended.
