The cholera outbreak in Rautahat district, Central Region is spreading. More than 900 cases have been recorded since the outbreak began six weeks ago. The source of the outbreak is contaminated water in the stream that supplies the village with drinking water.
Travellers to outbreak areas who will be mixing closely with the local population and cannot ensure safe drinking water can be immunised against cholera. A high standard of food, water and personal hygiene should also be maintained.
