The State Secretariat of Health, Sesab, has reportedly released data confirming a 25 percent increase in pertussis (whooping cough) cases since 2014. A total of 159 cases have been reported between January and May 2014. A total of 300 cases were reported for the whole of 2013.
It should be confirmed that children have received their recommended doses of pertussis vaccine in accordance with the UK schedule. The JCVI recommends pertussis boosters for pregnant women, but not for other adults in the UK.
